:. World Cup in Corbeil - Corbeil
Essonnes 2003
First World cup for Alina Kabaeva and Irina
Tchachina this year. Important for both gymnasts. They competed together in
Baltic Hoop, where Kabaeva won. After that they both competed once, Kabaeva in Ljubljana
and Tchachina in Bratislava. Now it was time to find out the real champion. This time it
was Tchachina. Irina really did perfectly. No big mistakes. It was clear in the medal
ceremony that Irina was satisfied.
Clubs - she did clubs very well, no big mistakes. Difficult catches at the end, which she
caught all. She wore a black/yellow new leotard, which was really beautiful and used the
same music then last year.
Ball - ball routine wasn't so good. Little drop in the beginning and some dirty movements.
Again, a really nice new leotard.
Hoop - super performance. A new music, no drops and big mistakes, great leotard. This girl
is amazing.
Ribbon - no big mistakes again! Ribbon worked all the time. Irina used Arabian style music
and she also wore a new leotard.
Alina Kabaeva got the 2nd place after Irina. People say that she did better then in
Ljubljana. It seemed to me that Alina was a bit tired of RG. Her movements were not so
clean, apparatus didn't stay in her hands. Alina even cried in the medal ceremony. It
seems that her time is over, but she has done so much to gymnastics.
Clubs - two drops and one at the end, so she didn't finish on time. Generally well
executed routine. Alina used a new music, Nigerian style, which isn't very good.
Ball - bad performance from Alina. She dropped one throw, which she has done for 2 years
now, it's like her originality. At the end she fell down from a movement. Music is new. I
should say that starting position is quite interesting.
Hoop - I think she did her hoop routine quite well. Her music from "Carmen",
very dramatic and it suits to Alina very well. Only one throw went a little bit too far
and Alina had to run a bit.
Ribbon - ribbon is a new apparatus for seniors. Alina hasn't accustomed with it yet. She
had lots of mistakes, ribbon stuck on her, fell down. Alina has a new music, Arabian style
with drum beats and voices. Ending is interesting. Alina uses almost the same start
position that she used in 1999/2000.
Tamara Yerofeeva got to the 3rd place with a good resolution. She
deserved it. Tamara still has her bad back pains from 2001, when the new code came.
Clubs - music from Moulin Rouge. In Riesa, three routines were made with this music. It
seems that it's very popular now! Generally well done! All throws were caught. Tamara has
a very good artistry, she does very nice tango movements.
Hoop - very well executed routine! Tamara have a very interesting ending. She throws the
hoop with the leg, when doing a movement, then 2 rolls and catches with the legs. She does
it already 2 years.
Ball - nice starting position, where Tamara holds her leg back and very high. Nice music
and beautiful routine. No big mistakes again.
Ribbon - music from "Swan lake". Ukraine seemes to like these kinds of music,
because a lots of Deriugina school gymnasts have used musics from Swan lake". Ribbon
got stucked on Tamara for once, but it was a little mistake, so well done Tamara!
Fourth place went to Inna Zhukova. She seemed to be a little bit unsure.
Little mistakes with ribbon. Anna Bessonova was the 2nd in all-around, but dropped to the
5th place, because her ribbon broken in the middle of the routine. It was a real
disappointment for her. Very good competition for Almudena Cid, very high
place in a contest like Corbeil. The best Estonian was Maria Filippova
(44th place). Our best, Irina Kikkas, missed.
